Siem Reap’s Clean Environment Day

20111126_Siem Reap Clean Environment DayThe Clean Environment Day was conducted on 23 November 2011 in Siem Reap City, Siem Reap Province in order to promote Clean Environment Activities along the streets, public gardens, in the Siem Reap River and in public schools as part of the city’s activities under the ASEAN ESC Model Cities Programme.  H.E. Ou Sun Vann, Under Secretary of State for the Environment was invited as the Honorable Leader for this event and was accompanied in participating in this activity by approximately 1,000 people from many different parts of society.  Participants included provincial government officials, Department of the Environment officials, members of the Armed Forces, students from both high schools and universities, and local communities.   The organisers hope that this large number of participants from a variety of areas of the local community can help to be the catalyst for continuing and sustained efforts by the people of Siem Reap in realising an environmentally sustainable city, attractive for tourists as well as contributing to a good quality of life for its citizens.
