Introduction to the city

Mayor Photo_Siem ReapThe world famous Siem Reap receives over 1 million tourists per year, placing a strain on its beautiful natural environment.  To combat this, the city is undertaking a variety of initiatives to both alleviate the immediate environmental problems as well as educate the public to prevent their occurrence.  Due to the high volume of visitors, one of the major issues is waste management.  Under the ASEAN ESC Model Cities Programme the city undertook activities on waste separation and awareness raising.
